Your Encounter Is Coming

When you preach in the open air you will eventually encounter the task of talking to a Police Officer. Here is what we have encountered here the past few weeks.

 

Over the past few weeks Gospel of God Ministries leaders and men we know have had four different encounters with Police Officers in Cary, Durham, Raleigh, and Wake Forest, NC. In every one of these encounters our 1st Amendment rights were infringed upon. I wanted to write this small article outlining how to document what is taking place and the information you need to get from the Police Officers before you leave the scene. Here is the information that needs to be gathered:

  1. Event name

  2. City and State

  3. Time

  4. Street or streets

  5. Weather

  6. Witnesses to this event and phone numbers

  7. Pictures

  8. Video of the encounter

  9. A written document of details of the encounter

  10. Police officer(s) card with contact information

After all this has been gathered and written submit all this information to your local elders asking for wisdom and permission to proceed in contacting the event Police Sergeant on this issue. After their blessing, schedule a meeting with the Police Officer’s Sergeant. If possible, the meeting should be scheduled at the location of the encounter.
