Video Evangelism-Three Points That Will Change Your View

When you read this title what is the first thing to capture your thoughts? Are you thinking about a Christian producing a video that communicates the Gospel in clear and creative ways? That is not what this article is about. We will see video evangelism as God’s providential method in which He chooses to propagate His glorious Gospel. What type of video evangelism am I talking about then? This is where someone is walking by the Open Air Preacher and begins to either record the preaching or stream it on Facebook live. Here are three ways I see God using video evangelism to advance his Gospel.
1.Technology is taking the Gospel to places I cannot go as an Open Air Preacher. Mark 16:15 “And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation”. People often ask me either how effective a ministry like this is or what type of fruit have we seen. I answer that the effectiveness is one hundred percent because God’s Word never returns void. Isa 55:11 “So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.” We don’t have to see the fruit of the preaching for it to be effective. The fruit that is produced from this type of ministry is abundant because of two reasons. One, God’s truth is going forth and two,God is the one giving the increase. 1 Cor 3:6 “I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth.” Having the preaching recorded is great. However, if no one is there preaching there is no way for the preaching to be recorded. Notice that for all three of these points to be effective, preaching must take place in the open air.
2.The person, whether lost or saved, will view the message again with friends or by themselves. Phil 1:17 “the former proclaim Christ out of selfish ambition rather than from pure motives, thinking to cause me distress in my imprisonment.” Even if the person recording has a completely wrong motive, at least the Gospel is going forth. Who knows, maybe God will use the video to save one of the people that the lost person is going to share it with.
3.The Gospel message, whether being preached live or watched on video, is a part of God’s providential plan to call His elect home. Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.” God is using modern day technology to advance His kingdom. Don’t let fear hold you back from being a part of what God is doing in the open air. Have you been watching ministries like this at a distance for some time and know that you feel God pushing you to do something like this? Remember, God uses the foolish things of the world to shame the wise. 1 Cor 1:27 “but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong.”
