Update from Raleigh Christmas Parade
Dec 2nd 2013 | Written by Tommy Waltz
A group of around twenty went to the streets to share the glorious Gospel at the Raleigh, NC Christmas parade. We had with us ten children ranging from age 3 to 12. My text of Scripture was Luke 2:10-14 I preached on the real meaning of Christmas. However, as type this update, the Lord is filling my heart with one thought. What are we doing with the younger generation to make them bold and unashamed of their faith in Jesus? I will answer what we at GGM are doing and then give a brief update on the Christmas Parade outreach.
Deuteronomy 6:7 –“Repeat them to your children. Talk about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”
Are we really doing the best we can with this command? We don’t have all the answers here at GGM but let me explain what we are striving towards. When we have events that are children friendly we are taking our kids with us into the harvest fields to listen to the conversations, hand out tracts, and share their faith. Riding to the location we were going to preach at, my oldest daughter wanted me to rehearse the Gospel with her. My heart jumped for joy!! She wanted to be sure she could explain the Gospel well. It reminds me of 1Peter 3:15, “always be ready to give a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you.”
Have you taken your family out to share their faith in Jesus? You should!! It will challenge you and bond your family closer together. Start with praying for your neighbors and sharing the Gospel with them in front of your kids. Have your kids share the Gospel with their kids. Teach and preach the Gospel to you and your family until faith becomes action! Then you will give people the pleasure of knowing Jesus. Plant the seed and let God grow the truth in them.
The outreach went well. We had two new families join the GGM outreach team. Are you going to be next? I hope!! We passed out tracts, Bibles, and shared the true meaning of Christmas. We had Paul break the sound barrier and preach in the Open Air for the first time. Way to go Paul!!! My heart rejoices in thankfulness this Christmas season in what God is doing through GGM.
Prayer Closet Concerns for GGM
· We would be diligent in training the new people that join our team
· Financially we would have what we need to extend our ministry as the Lord leads
· That hearts would be pierced as they hear the Gospel message
· That our preaching and conversation would be saturated with the power of His Spirit
