How Far Down The Rabbit Hole

Sep 17, 2019 | Written by Tommy Waltz

We all remember that famous scene from the Matrix where Morpheus, in his black leather coat, is sitting in front of Neo in the red chair. He’s holding out his hand while sunglass shades hover in front of his eyes. The left-hand holds a blue pill and the right has a red pill. He states, “If you take the red pill, I will show you how deep the rabbit hole goes. You take the blue pill, you will awake to your life.”

Will you go with me a little further in the rabbit hole?

In this month’s article, I will be talking about the “I” in our RULING acronym: the impossibility of the contrary. We will be covering three points that shows reality comes from God and it is impossible without Him.

  1. The unbeliever, without God, is in the rabbit hole and cannot be certain about how to get out, nor certain about anything.

All life is created by God. It is obvious. Just read:

Romans 1:19-20. Since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

We dwell on an environment that is set up as a testament to the one true living God. Every day, the sunrises to put creation on display for all people to be enamored with the one who gave it as a gift. Nevertheless, let’s be honest. When you look around, we don’t see many people thanking God; we see people running after false gods. Trying to find satisfaction in them but only the one true God can give. They are held captive by sin. Listen to what Paul says:

Ephesians 6:12. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

They don’t even know where to focus the fight. They are swinging and fighting the ones who want to help free them. If you are an unbeliever, the next time you get mad at a Christian for sharing the Gospel with you, realize that this is the only thing that can set you free from the rabbit hole of sin. Jesus came to satisfy the wrath of God for your sins on the cross, was buried, and resurrected so you can be forgiven. This is what will set you free. Repent and place your faith in him.

Christian, if you are sharing this truth and receiving opposition to the message, realize the battle is not flesh and blood but instead spiritual. Don’t take it personally, because you know the truth.

Show them the absurd nature of their uncertainty and let that draw them in to make sense out of the reality of their sin, His righteousness, and the coming judgment. This will lead them to freedom that is independence.

  1. Our humanity brings us to a realization that it is impossible to be anything other than dependent. Nevertheless, humans are the ones crying out that they are independent.

When we begin to look at frames and how fragile our bodies really are, there is a certain realization that sets in: we are dependent upon God…..  You can read the whole article by becoming a champion of our ministry.
